Custom Buffer Formulation — Ordering Workflow

Solarbio accepts custom buffer formulation requests for laboratories with specific ionic composition, pH, osmolality, or additive requirements.

Workflow Steps

  1. Submit specification request via solarbio.store or email [email protected] using the template: (a) buffer name, (b) final volume required, (c) component list with mM or g/L, (d) target pH ± tolerance, (e) target osmolality (if applicable), (f) preferred packaging, (g) sterility requirement (0.1 µm or 0.22 µm filtered), (h) endotoxin limit if <0.5 EU/mL needed.
  2. Technical review (2 business days): Our formulation team reviews the components for compatibility issues (e.g., Ca²⁺/Mg²⁺ precipitation risk with phosphate, microbial growth potential with glucose-containing buffers).
  3. Quotation: A custom SKU is created with per-lot pricing. Minimum order: 1 L for simple buffers, 5 L for complex formulations.
  4. Manufacturing (5–10 business days): ISO 9001:2015 controlled production with in-process pH and conductivity checks.
  5. Release testing: pH ± 0.1, osmolality ± 5%, conductivity ± 5%, sterility (if specified), endotoxin (if specified), DNase/RNase (if specified).
  6. COA delivery: Electronic COA with all measured values, lot number, and expiry date.

Supported custom additives: EDTA, EGTA, DTT, TCEP, PMSF, protease inhibitor cocktail, sodium azide (0.02%), glycerol (up to 50% v/v), sucrose, Triton X-100, Tween 20, SDS, BSA (up to 5%). Any additive compatible with 0.1 µm or 0.22 µm filtration can be included.

  • Buffers: Store at room temperature (15–30°C) unless otherwise labeled. After opening, store 2–8°C for buffers containing biological components (e.g., PBS with Ca²⁺/Mg²⁺).
  • Small molecules: Keep sealed under inert gas; desiccate at −20°C. Light-sensitive compounds should be stored in amber vials.
  • Analytical standards: Store in original container, tightly sealed. Desiccate where moisture sensitivity is indicated.
  • Staining dyes: Protect from light. Hematoxylin and eosin at RT; fluorescent dyes at −20°C.
